Biking is hands down my favorite way to explore a city. You can cover more ground than you would on foot. You see more than you would in a car or bus. You get some exercise. And you can go pretty much wherever your heart desires from narrow back alleyways to bike paths that line the shore to parks and gardens and everything in between. Below are some city rides I've done over the years. Enjoy!
Give me a choice on how to explore a place and I will choose 'by bike’. Always. Every single time. For me, biking is the perfect way to see and experience a place - new or old.
Cuenca is such a great city! Tons of beautiful churches and green parks. Last night, after C and I arrived in town after a four hour bus ride from Guayaquil, we explored the cobblestone streets of Cuena and admired its old colonial building, remnants of Spanish colonizations in the mid-1500’s.
I feel like I just smoked a pack of cigarettes. Maybe even two. I just spent an hour on a tuk tuk, inhaling exhaust fumes and trying to keep my eyes from drying out from the polluted air. To make it worse, my tuk tuk driver and I had a little bit of misunderstanding as to where I wanted to go.
